De Peter Beater
A hollander beater that mills long unrefined plant fibers as well as soft and delicate ones, like flax,
hemp but also kozo or cotton. It mills 500 to 1000 grams of dry fiber weight in 33 liters of water.
Including a 3 fase,380 volt motor. The beater is totally made of stainless steel and has a bronze bedplate.
Total weight is 175 kilo's.
The Peter Beater is a strong and sturdily built machine, completely made out of stainless steel exept for its
bronze bedplate. It owes its capacity to beat foot long fibres like flax (uncooked) to the hanging construction
in which the kniferoll is mounted. The kniferoll can bounce up over lumpy strands of fibre which will always form
in the beginning of the beating. The space between the kniferoll and the bedplate can be adjusted and also the
weight with which the roll hits the fibers can be increased or decreased as you wish by means of a sliding
counterweight on a balance arm. The arm on which the kniferoll is mounted can be turned 120 degrees upward so
that every part of the bedplate and tub can be reached and cleaned. Also the stainless steel will not be affected
by any pigments , dyes or chemicals, so you can use your beater to colour your fibers. The bronze bedplate is
curved in the same radius as the kniferoll. This makes for a big effective grinding suface and a relatively short
beating time.
