Tomoko Ishida

Her marriage to a Buddhist priest left Tomoko Ishida little time to pursue her artistic career. However, in the temple she encountered the many wrappings of the various offerings made to Buddha. She cuts this paper into small strips, twists them and combines about fifteen of them together into a flat segment. She creates her works only in exhibition rooms using hundreds of these segments.
