Yu-Mi-Kim attempts to recapture the feeling of humanity and materials, missing in present times, by working with paper. The papers she uses are made of natural material. She sees them connecting the natural and the human, with, in the middle, humanity. She works in the traditional joomchi technique. By using water on a few papers, she turns them into one piece of paper. It is in the character of paper's fibrous material that it becomes beautiful and tough like fabric, after layering a few papers, rubbing them in a particular manner, and then beating them.
