Paper is global: you can get it almost everywhere in the world. It allows Stefan Saffer to set up a work process almost instantly wherever he travels or happens to be. Each sort of paper has a life of its own and yet paper is an everyday material used by thousands of people. Saffer likes to treat paper with respect even if it does not represent the content of his work but is a rather stubborn and patient carrier. He paints on it, draws on it, scratches into it, cuts it and allows it to cast shadows.
